FAQ
•How do we get started?
Email me at hello@juliakleederman.com to schedule a free consultation by phone or Zoom. This allows me to hear about what's going on and how I can help. Many times this first call is with parent(s), but students are certainly more than welcome to be included or speak with me independently. If it seems like a good fit, we will set up our first longer session (usually 60 mins).
•Why online?
So many reasons!
Time: With busy schedules and many commitments, students gain time by conducting our sessions from home or school. *It is also one less ride needed from a busy parent!
Momentum: Meeting virtually allows students to be productive and stay in the flow of working. I have found that students are more likely to continue independently after our sessions because they are already settled and organized in their own study space.
Efficacy: Virtual sessions are dynamic and creative. With the tools of Google docs, screen sharing, and online sketching, I am able to engage students in multidimensional ways that match their unique learning styles. These online tools also help us to create continuity and accountability in between sessions.
I meet with all students Zoom, making it possible to work with students anywhere. In the comfort of their own work space, we connect in dynamic and productive ways.
•How many sessions are needed?
This is determined on an individual basis depending on the level of support required and the focus of sessions. Some students are seen once a week, others bi-weekly, and others multiple times a week. This frequently changes over time.
•How does Communication Work In between sessions?
Accountability is key. Students know that they can always reach me by text and email with questions and updates. Most often, we will create action steps at the end of each session and determine ways to check-in on those steps. Parents can also reach me by email or phone as needed. It is often helpful for parents to know what we accomplish during sessions.
•DO YOU communicatE with school professionals?
For certain students, bridging the gap between the coaching relationship and what happens in school can be important. Communication between teachers or other professionals can be arranged on an as needed basis.
